'Bout Me
i’m noel john (pronouns: all/they/noel).

i am a nomadic, black, queer, nonbinary, transmasc, multi-passionate, medicine maker. my definition of medicine is ever expanding. currently my medicines include: storytelling, photography, writing, herbalism, witnessing, archivism

i embody many identities and am coming to find comfort and ease through that embodiment.

storytelling allows me to explore my curiosities about the quirks and uniqueness of people and the world surrounding me. usually when i take apicture or write a piece, it’s because i can’t take my eyes off of what’s infront of me, or clear the scene from my mind that’s in need of words inorder to come to life.

my photography is usually focused on portraits, documentary, concept, andlandscape. and lately, archiving and preserving stories, tradition, liferecipes, culture, identities, has become more urgent to me, so much ofwhat i create lends itself to that urgency.

i currently reside in atlanta, ga, but originally from columbia, sc. i wasraised with deep family roots in the black c.o.g.i.c. church, as well asacademia, so i’m often drawn to themes that are influenced by my experiences and reflect pieces of my journey to where and who i am today.

i received my bachelor of arts degree at the university of south carolina inmedia arts and psychology. i work as a community creative consultant &producer, and archivist, dedicated to amplifying the presence of andrecording the stories and experiences of my intersecting communities.
